Abstract

Drug use has increased the incidence of mental disorders and health problems, generating serious personal and social  consequences. In response to this reality, the “Recover to Move Forward” Project was launched, aiming to improve the cognitive
and social abilities of individuals with severe mental illness resulting from psychoactive substance use in the province of Salamanca.

The intervention is based on a review of the main psychiatric pathologies linked to drug use and their impact on mental
health. Based on this analysis, a psychosocial intervention is proposed, structured around various programs and activities focused on developing key competencies (cognition, physical exercise, social skills, personal hygiene, and household tasks).

Lasting two years, the Project aims to achieve a significant improvement in the cognitive and social skills of all participants, promoting their autonomy and quality of life.
