New combination and typification of Erythraea boissieri Willk. (Gentianaceae), endemism of the Iberian Peninsula

Abstract

New molecular evidences recently provided in the genus Centaurium Hill point out in C. grandiflorum (Pers.) Ronniger a clear phylogenetic differentiation between subsp. boissieri (Willk.) Z. Díaz and the other two subspecies recognized for the Iberian flora, subsp. grandiflora and subsp. majus (Hoffmanns. & Link) Z. Díaz. In consequence, a review of the taxonomic status of the subsp. boissieri is made and a new combination at species level is proposed, Centaurium boissieri (Willk.) Z. Díaz, for which a nomenclatural review of the taxon and the typification of its basionym, Erythraea boissieri Willk. are made.
