Abstract

In different European scriptoria in the IXth and Xth centuries the incorporation of peripheral images to the parchment paper were carried out. This measurement not only gave a new way of expression to the miniaturists. But it also brought another consequence, even happier. It let the reader see the collection of folios as something different, more complex, as a whole.
