Abstract

Pasolini's version of Medea evades any possibility of an archaeological reconstruction. The freedom to create is even greater when recreating the archaic world of the Colquide than in the rest of the film, because there are practically no iconographic references to inspire him. The result achieves high levels of originality using different aesthetic resources, that manage to make this magic scenery come alive.
