Abstract

This work has as main objective to analyze the types and levels of Anxiety and Happiness, according to stage of development (age), gender, culture and socioeconomic and cultural status, as well as the relationships that could be given between all the variables. To make it possible we focused on 1812 participants from 14 educational centers, in the city of Ceuta; 67.6% of the total were Muslims and 32.4% belonged to the Christian religion, 47.6% were male and 52.4%. The techniques used in this survey were the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and its version for Children, as well as a Happiness questionnaire, built and adapted for its use to each one of the samples. The results reflect low levels in Anxiety and high levels in Happiness. Anxiety is influenced in a very different way by the sociodemographic factors of stage of development, gender, culture and socioeconomic and cultural status. Happiness is influenced by the sociodemographic factors of stage of development (age) and socioeconomic and cultural status. We found statistically significant relationship between Anxiety and Happiness. This relationship was inversely proportional. So, it is possible to consider this variables opposite emotional states.
