If anyone today can offer a rigorous first-hand account of what it meant to study in the Madrid Film School, it is Tomàs Pladevall. This is not only due to his exceptional memory, but also to the set of exercises, tests, and practical work he has preserved from that period, gathered in an extensive personal archive that documents his long career as a cinematographer. This interview focuses exclusively on the three years, from 1969 to 1972, during which he was a student at the Madrid Film School, culminating in his graduation in the Camera specialization, and examines practical exercises in detail, while also tracing the ideological tensions, the links with the industry, and the personal trajectories of that time, including anecdotes that, although they may seem minor, provide a more realistic view and bring us closer to the protagonists. Among the merits of his testimony is the possibility of understanding and connecting learning processes with the transition into the film industry experienced by a Madrid Film School student between the late 1960s and early 1970s.
