This article analyzes exhibition design as a form of cultural expression capable of articulating processes of educational innovation and the social transfer of knowledge within the university setting. Using the case study of the Isidoro Valcárcel Medina gallery of the Universidad de Murcia, the article examines the educational potential of exhibition design as a tool for revitalizing the history of photography within the context of audiovisual media. The analysis focuses on three group exhibitions stemming from innovative teaching projects linked to the year-long course ‘Theory and History of Audiovisual Media’ in the Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Through a qualitative methodology, the study proposes interpreting these initiatives as pedagogical laboratories where the exhibition becomes a space for mediation between academic knowledge, creative experimentation, and public dissemination. Furthermore, it analyzes how exhibition design contributes to generating permanent materials—catalogs, videos, publications—that extend the reach of the educational project beyond the physical space of the gallery.
