Abstract

The review of a doctoral thesis is presented as a compendium of publications focused on the state of quality in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Spain, with special reference to the first cycle. For this purpose, a systematic review is carried out to identify and evaluate the studies on quality assessment in ECE. Likewise, the ITERS-3 (Infant/toddler Environment Rating Scale) questionnaire was applied to evaluate the quality of the environment, and two ad hoc questionnaires were designed, validated, and applied on the type of school-family relationship and the activities and indications provided. Among the most relevant results, it stands out that family-school cooperation is associated with the educational level of the parents and the type of school, considering its ownership (public, subsidized or private), as well as the fact that almost half of the families surveyed demand more indications from the teachers so that their children can carry out the activities assigned to them.
