Forgiveness is both a personal decision as also part of social reconciliation processes. In both cases, the fault recognition and the will of justice are two essential elements which allow people and society to write a new ending for a story. This article focuses on three main ideas: first, the dfference between forgiveness and oblivion; second, the central role of the “happy memory” in reconciliation processes and civil peace construction; and third, the authoritarian word over public affairs risks.
