Abstract

The purpose of the present article is to try to reconstruct the “idea of the university” from the multiple texts of the pontificate of Benedict XVI. Even though it uses some texts prior to his pontificate to complement and observe the evolution of this idea, in this research paper we have primarily followed his speeches as Pontificate. The research’s point of departure is the unity of subjacent intensity in all his works: the Christian image of God and his consequent image of man, which results in a conception of university as a laboratory for humanity, where the logos expands its horizons and ultimately aims for wisdom.
