Beyond the matter of a possible influence of Ortega over Gaos, in this paper I aim to find the converging roots in the work of both philosophers with regards of two concepts that were prominent to their philosophies of human life as a historical matter, i.e., the issues of circumstance and vocation. Though these philosopher did not understand these in the same way, I however propose making a comparison between the place of both concepts in their respective discourses, seeking to shed light in the difference cast by their respective oeuvres.
