Although the translator-machine relationship was already a reality, the power and scope of AI in text processing have presented teachers with the challenge of what to teach our students for a transformed job market. Far from undermining the contributions of AI, this article proposes integrating AI to enable the acquisition of both translation and AI skills, reflecting the essential role that translators continue to play as professionals. The design-based research (DBR) methodology has made it possible not only to reflect on the impact of AI on the translation process as taught, but also to present, after several iterations, the final versions of two activities that include AI for educational purposes. These results may help to shed light on an updated approach to translation teaching.
