Key success factors in the organization of road races

Road races require efficient management to achieve successful results. However, the absence of key indicators and variability in operations make systematic evaluation difficult. This study aimed to identify the key factors affecting the organization of road sports events. A mixed methodology with an exploratory approach was applied, using structured surveys to 98 organizers, validated through Fleiss' Kappa (K = 0.840), Cronbach's alpha (α = 0.964), and acceptance index (AI = 0.967). The results show that organization, planning, communication, teamwork, and logistics are the factors with the greatest impact according to the variables general key factors (GKF), operational key factors (OKF), and vital activities in the organization (VA). The study concludes that structured planning, accompanied by collaborative processes and clear communication strategies, strengthens the operation, sustainability, and projection of these events, consolidating a replicable organizational model for future editions.
