Abstract

The objetive was to carry out a systematic review of nutritional habits in practising gymnastics sports. Original articles were reviewed in the datebases WOS, Scopus, Pudmed, Sport Discuss and Google Scholar, between the years 2000-2020, following the principles of PRISMA statement. Study selection was carried out by two researchers in two stages (screening and application of sligibility criteria). Age, sex, simple size, methodological quality, country, variables, instrument and results were recorded in 15 articles that met the inclusión criteria. The results in most of the studies highlight that the nutritional habits among  gymnasts tend to be worse in the female gender than in the male, without generally  complying with the recommendations indicated for this population. The most widely used assessment instruments were the 7-day dietary reminder 33,33%, the Mediterranean quality of life questionnaire or the KIDMED 20% index, and the 3-day record. It is conclude that gymnasts in general do not have good eating habits, consuming unbalaced diets. It is necessary to develop programs to promote healthy nutritional habits in the  gymnast population.
