The process of legitimizing psychiatry as a medical speciality in Spain began to develop in the 1920s, thanks to the interest of a generation of young doctors who had been trained in the tradition of laboratory medicine with Ramón y Cajal. Miguel Prados Such, born in Malaga but trained as a doctor at the Central University of Madrid, has been better known for being the brother of the poet Emilio Prados than for his own achievements in the scientific field. After his exile to Canada at the end of the Spanish Civil War, the trail of this researcher is diluted in our country. The objective of this work is to value the figure of this doctor, point out his contributions to the world of mental medicine, highlight his interest in reforming the psychiatric institution of charity in Málaga, in addition to having been recognized in Canada as one of the most involved psychiatrists in the dissemination of psychoanalysis since the 1940s.
