Abstract

Understanding the mechanisms that improve the quality of life of citizens is crucial for designing social intervention programs at the local or supra-municipal level. For this reason, research is carried out with 1515 residents of Malaga, distributed proportionally by sex, age and districts.
The study offers a social diagnosis that goes beyond the classic structural indicators (age, employment or access to housing), which do not always adequately reflect the perceived quality of life. The innovation of the study lies in the combination of some sociodemographic (age, sex, employment), social (social support from family and friends), community (sense of community and satisfaction with the neighborhood) and behavioral (aggressiveness) factors, which explain up to 23.8% of the life satisfaction of Malaga residents.
These results make it possible to design intervention programs aimed at improving the perceived quality of life, specifically selecting the key factors to be strengthened.
