Abstract

Through this work, the aim is to highlight the importance of expertise when conducting expert social assessments, specifically in the case of Law 8/2021, June 2nd, which reforms civil and procedural legislation to support people with disabilities in the exercise of their legal capacity.
It is absolutely necessary to highlight the crucial role that this and other laws are granting to social workers who perform their work as social experts, who, beyond having the official title, must also have expertise in the field in order to guarantee Human Rights, including sexual and reproductive rights, of the individuals being assessed, overcoming the inertia inherent in the legal sphere.
