We introduce mourning for the loss of a loved one, highlighting that Social Work intervenes on a daily basis with users in mourning for different types of losses. Next, we do an analysis of the theoretical background on grief, its phases and types with the aim of knowing and recognizing the space of intervention of the Social Work professional in the accompaniment, attention and support through group intervention. We present good practices from Social Work with people who have suffered loss of loved ones, an intervention aimed at promoting social support to avoid the constitution of pathological grief. In conclusion, it is corroborated that the professional practice of Social Work focused on the prevention of social isolation includes both the promotion of social relationships and ties and the promotion of participation that recognizes people as protagonists in the development of their grieving process.
