The social research understanding of the phenomenon of vulnerability and social exclusion based on the case study of two vulnerable neighborhoods in the South and the North. An analysis is carried out based on the comparative analysis of the socio territorial context of El Gallito neighbourhood (Guatemala) and La Coma neighbourhood (Spain), through auditions that describe and understand its structural determinants and social perception in both of them. For the presentation of the results, the qualitative program Maxqda 2018 has been used, in order to detail and analyse comparatively the elements and discourses that interpret the social reality of such neighborhoods. With regard to the results obtained, similarities and differences have been found in one and in another neighbourhood as a result of the structural constraints of the regions under study. Based on the testimonies analysed the conclusions revolve around the valorisation of protection factors, the development of resilience capacity on the part of citizens and the need to adopt an integral and multidimensional perspective that allows to tackle the risk factors.
