Likewise, IJNE accepts "Short Communication papers". These are short articles that present original and important material for rapid dissemination. For example, a short article may focus on a particular aspect of a problem or a new finding that is expected to have a significant impact.

Short articles include, but are not limited to: discovery or development of new materials, experiments and cutting-edge theory, novelty in simulation and modeling, elucidation of mechanisms. Because Brief Communications is expected to have a higher than average impact in the field rather than reporting on incremental investigations, they will receive a prioritized and rapid publication.

Short articles are limited to 3000 words and are not subdivided. The document must contain a summary, the main body, and references, and must not contain more than 6 figures or tables, combined.

The summary is limited to 100 words. Below is a guide to estimate the length of the paper: Estimate the equivalent number of words for figures/tables such as: Figures / tables of a column wide (7.5 cm): 20 words per cm height Figures / tables two columns wide (15 cm): 40 words per cm height.

Short articles will appear at the end of each IJNE number. Each article will start with "Short Communication paper", followed by the title.
