Abstract

This interview with the world-renown Martinican filmmaker, Mme Euzhan
Palcy, took place on September 13, 1993 in the university cable TV studio of Clark Atlanta University, the very day that Yitzak Rabin and Yasser Arafat signed a peace accord at the White House in the presence of President Bill Clinton.  Mme Palcy has the distinction
of being the first filmmaker from Martinique (the French overseas Department) to be awarded the prestigious César award for excellence in filmmaking. The French César is the equivalent of the American Oscar. We discussed myriad issues relative the role
of black filmmakers, artists, actors, and directors, as well as her personal meteoric rise to fame in the film industry.
