Abstract

In the article, the purpose is to identify some essential features of Lévinas’ ethical thinking, in order to detect its implications on the political level. Beginning from the critical analysis of Western philosophy, Emmanuel Lévinas motivates the choice that leads him to develop a new ethical conception based on the idea of Other, before considering it as otherness - that escapes any subject classification-, then rediscovering it within the subject himself. After considering Paul Ricœur’s discordant position, the attempt is to transpose the theory of ethics into a political level through a reflection starting from the work of Jacques Derrida on hospitability
