Algunas ventajas de la concepción estructuralista de la matemática

RESUMEN
En su quehacer diario, el matemático trabaja principalmente con estructuras. Algunos filósofos, siguiendo a los matemáticos, han sugerido que el estructuralismo proporciona una buena explicación de diversas cuestiones en filosofía de las matemáticas. Es el caso de Michael Resnik y Stewart Shapiro. Conviene decir, sin embargo, que no hay una ortodoxia completa con respecto a la aproximación estructuralista a las matemáticas. Este arículo se centra en dos aspectos que este punto de vista trata de resolver, en concreto, una justificación del platonismo, y una epxlicación de la aplicabilidad de las matemáticas a las ciencias empíricas.

ABSTRACT
In their job, mathematicians work above all with structures. Some philoopgers, following mathematiians, have suggestet that structuralism provides for a good explanation of some issues in the philosophy of mathematics. it is the cas of Michael Resnic and Stewart Shapiro. it should be noter, however, that there is no orthodox structuralist approach concerning mathematics. This paper focuses on two aspects addressed by structuralism, namel: a justification of Platonism and an explanation of the the applicability of mathematics to empirical sciences.
