This text raises the treatment of the notion of disease in the work of Michel Foucault from
his distance from naturalism and social constructivism. The heritage of Canguilhem and its
vital normativism offer the theoretical tools that will allow a treatment of medicine whose
analysis provokes the clarification of the question about the ontology of Foucault’s work, the
relationship between social and vital normativism and the possibility of a democratization of
medical knowledge.
