Abstract

O texto apresenta o modo em que a razão pode criar objetos para a paixão. O escopo do estudo é o Leviatã (1651), de Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679). Observa-se que os objetos das paixões são produzidos a partir de imaginação (ou memória), do que participa a razão. A razão, como cálculo de nomes, tem afinidade com a linguagem. Já que a linguagem é um produto do consenso, é relevante considerar que a política, a retórica e a mentira são seus elementos constitutivos. Disso se conclui que a paixão pode ter objetos baseados na mentira, ou seja, pode se querer o falso.
