Abstract

The emergence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains has led to the loss of efficacy of antibiotics. In the search of new strategies to fight infectious diseases of bacterial origin, a possible way is the use of bacteriophages, viruses that parasitize and destroy bacterial cells. Phage therapy, the use on enzybiotics or enzymes used by phages in their relationship with bacteria, and phage display are three possible alternatives in this fight. However, the most logical and effective is the combined use of antibiotics and phages in the fight against infections and diseases of bacterial origin.
