Abstract

The repair of injuries produced in the articular cartilage is an unresolved problem of enormous importance worldwide. Cell therapy arises in response to the need to alleviate the problems caused
by joint degeneration after cartilage injury. The perspective of an interdisciplinary approach gives great relevance to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, revolutionizing the way in which scientists
approach the problem. The current strategies, as well as their possible clinical translation and the possible future direction of the research, will be discussed in the following text.
