Que nos convertimos en historias: Una conversación (interior) con José J. Barba

Abstract

If the stories we tell ourselves may well not always (all) be the truth, Coetzee is right that they are all we have. The same is true of our dreams. In January 2011 José J. Barba passed away. Teacher, colleague, researcher; father, son, husband, brother, friend. This writing, in the form of a personal and intimate story, takes as its references the passage of time and its fleetingness, uncertainty and precariousness, as well as some of the moments lived with José, in an attempt to remember what is truly important in life: family, love, friendship, slowness, silence. It also aims to help us imagine a better future, as long as we are able to overcome the fear and vertigo that appear when it comes to changing the unacceptability of the present.
