This teaching innovation work addresses the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on university teaching methodology, focusing on student autonomy in searching for and accessing information. The article presents a teaching experience through Systematic Literature Reviews (SLR) as a tool to foster self-learning. The work highlights the systematic methodology of SLR to collect, critically evaluate, integrate, and present findings from multiple research studies on a specific question. Standards and guidelines established by the Cochrane Collaboration and PRISMA are detailed to conduct an SLR in a rigorous and reproducible manner. Through our experience, we discuss the importance of formulating a precise and well-defined research question, as well as establishing inclusion and exclusion criteria to select relevant studies. We offer a comprehensive guide for conducting an SLR in final year projects. The SLR are an effective tool to foster self-learning and open new doors to knowledge in the university setting.
