Abstract

This paper analyzes the evolution of the translation of political concepts in the reports of the National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) from 2012, 2017, and 2022, with a diachronic approach and based on a bilingual Chinese-Spanish corpus. It explores both the continuities and changes in Chinese political concepts and their translations over different periods, in response to linguistic adjustments and ideological and political variations. Framed within Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Michel Foucault's theory of power, this study reveals how translation is not just a linguistic act, but a discursive process that contributes to the construction of China's political identity and its projection on the global stage. The translations of these political concepts form part of a broader international communication strategy, where language becomes a tool of power and legitimation.
