The aim of the study was to assess load and indicators of variability and physiological stress during a 43-week period in elite first division Chilean female footballers. A quantitative longitudinal study was. A total of 24 players (21,1 ± 3,0 years; 61,7 ± 5,1 kg; 159,3 ± 6,0 cm) were assessed. Load and monotony and strain indices were evaluated according to session-RPE. Outcomes indicated that the training load and monotony and strain indicators had a greater impact in preparation periods. There were significant differences when comparing the preparation, competitive and transition periods. (F = 6,657; p = 0,001; TE = 0,41). It is concluded that weekly periodization is different between preparation and competitive periods, showing greater loads undulation during the competitive period, but that in preparation periods there is less variability and greater physiological stress that can induce the appearance of injuries due to overload.
