This study analyzes the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Physical Appearance State and Trait Anxiety Scale (PASTAS) (1), focusing on men, a group underexplored in research on physical appearance. Using a sample of 610 university students aged 17 to 20, confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to assess the instrument's validity and reliability. The results validated a bifactorial structure consisting of weight-related and non-weight-related factors, demonstrating satisfactory statistical and construct indicators. This model confirms the utility of PASTAS for investigating anxiety associated with self-perception of physical appearance. The study highlights the need to expand research to non-university populations to achieve more generalizable results. This work contributes to understanding the relationship between anxiety and physical appearance, providing a reliable tool for future research.
