Introduction: The "dermatoglyphia" has become an important tool that allows us to identify the genotypic profile of a subject, whose purpose is to establish aspects that the physical qualities an athlete possesses. Objective: To establish the dermatoglyphic and functional profile of professional and training players, relating them to the criteria already established for football. Materials and methods: 42 professional football players and 44 formative football players, who had to have more than six months on the national team and have attended training on a regular basis. The dermatoglyphic and morpho functional profiles in each subject were evaluated. Univariate analysis was performed for categorical variables and subsequently T student test to determine association between them. Results: The average age of professional footballers was 21±2 years, average height 176.7±6.2 cm, weight 71.9±6.4 kg and BMI of 22.9±1.4. At the educational level, the average age was 17±2 years, height of 170.9 ±6.7 cm, weight 61.6 ±6.4 kg and BMI of 18.6 ±5. There were statistically significant differences between the morpho functional variables: musculoskeletal mass, fat mass, phase angle, flight time, height, strength, and maximum power with a value of (p=0.000). When correlating the dermatoglyphic variables for professional and formative football with morpho functional variables, statistically significant relationships were found between the presillas and supraspinal fold (p=0.05). Conclusion: The dermatoglyphic profile showed the predisposition to the development of the physical qualities of the physiological demands of said sport, as well as the morpho functional differences existing in each category.
