The Canon of Archaic Lyric Poets in the Suda

This article studies the recurrent patterns that shape the ancient biographies of Greek poets in the entries of the Byzantine encyclopedia Suda dedicated to the nine lyric poets of the Alexandrian canon. The paper proposes a critical analysis of the reception of these patterns in the most widely used textbooks on the History of Greek Literature in Spain. The aim is to offer a series of materials, including a Spanish translation of the entries discussed, which may be useful to Greek literature teachers.
