Opening of the Submission Period for Issue 2 (Volume 1)

2025-11-05

Contrapuntos en Educación Journal, in its issue No. 2 (vol. 1), titled “The Serene Revolution: Challenges of Education for a Culture of Peace,” invites professionals in the field of Education to submit original and unpublished articles addressing the current challenges and transformative possibilities of education as a tool for building a culture of peace.

In the current global context—marked by wars, genocides, forced displacement, political polarization, climate emergencies, discrimination, and structural and systemic violence, as well as hate speech, social and educational exclusion, and armed conflicts, among other situations contrary to a culture of peace—education emerges as a key space for shaping critical, empathetic, and dialogical citizens committed to defending human rights, equity, and the common good, and capable of promoting social justice, peaceful coexistence, intercultural dialogue, and the nonviolent resolution of conflicts.

In turbulent times and amidst global crises such as those we are experiencing today, education stands as a powerful opportunity to imagine and build fairer and more peaceful futures. Now more than ever, it becomes essential to revalue its role as a living practice that enables spaces for critical reflection and collective action—capable of strengthening a Culture of Peace in its multiple dimensions: local, national, and international. From this perspective, this issue seeks to foster critical reflection and rigorous analysis on educational practices, theories, and policies aimed at peace, respect for human rights, and the construction of more equitable and democratic societies.

In this regard, some of the suggested thematic areas include:

  • Education for peace and global citizenship: pedagogical approaches, experiences, and transformative methodologies.

  • Culture of peace in educational contexts: peaceful conflict management, mediation, coexistence, and emotional education.

  • Decolonial and intercultural perspectives for peace.

  • Violence, exclusion, and resistance in educational spaces: analysis of contexts of risk, vulnerability, and resilience.

  • Teacher training for a culture of peace.

  • Education and social justice.

  • Education in post-conflict and reconciliation settings: local and international experiences, historical memory, and pedagogies of non-repetition.

Manuscripts must be original, comply with the journal’s editorial guidelines, and be submitted through the management system. Once the written article has been accepted, authors may optionally submit a complementary video briefly and clearly presenting the main objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions of their research. This audiovisual material will help broaden the dissemination of the work and enhance its understanding among a wider academic audience. The video should have a maximum duration of two minutes and meet the technical requirements established by the journal.
