Abstract

In Spain, mortality rates derived from cardiovascular diseases are very high, resulting in high medical, pharmacological and hospital costs. Many of these diseases arise from aterosclerosis,  an  inflammatory disease which affects arteries triggering lesions in their walls. In this paper we present information to know more about this disease, about its origin, its progression, the tools used  for its diagnosis and how can  we  fight against it.
