Abstract

Animal models have become indispensable for biological and medical research. The possibility of generating transgenic mice, of which there are already several thousand strains available, has allowed us to advance at rates unsuspected just 20 years ago. However, we should not forget that in nature there may exist species that provide us with extraordinarily interesting wild animal models
