Abstract

In a classic review from 2000, Hanahan and Weinberg (The hallmarks of cancer. Cell 100: 57-70, 2000) proposed a model that defines the six properties that a malignant tumor acquires and characterizes: unlimited replicative potential, self-sufficiency in growth signals, insensitivity to growth inhibitors, evasion of apoptosis, sustained angiogenesis, and ability to invade tissues and generate metastases
