Abstract

Recently, we have been surprised by the news about the emergence of new diseases, in many cases caused by unknown viruses. Among the most striking examples we have the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), which we began to hear about in 1981 and whose causative agent turned out to be a virus with RNA as genetic material: the human immunodeficiency virus or HIV.
