Abstract

The central nervous system of vertebrates is exceptionally well protected against mechanical aggression, on the one hand, thanks to the 'armor' provided by the skull and spinal column which, together with the meninges and cerebrospinal fluid, acts as a central nervous system. very effective shock absorber against blows, and on the other hand, against potentially harmful substances found in the blood thanks to the existence of a highly specific 'barrier' between the blood and the nervous tissue, the so-called 'blood-brain barrier' .
