Abstract

The Pliocene-Quaternary lacustrine deposits of the Orce region (Granada) are among the most important in Eurasia due to the abundance, diversity, and exceptional state of conservation of their large mammal fossil fauna, as well as for the discovery therein of the earliest evidence of human occupation in Europe, dating between 1.9 and 0.8 million years ago
