Abstract

The following paper describes an educational experience aimed at reinforcing several bases of translation such as its different categories and the main stages of the translation process. The activity on which the paper is built consists in an intersemiotic translation form text into illustration based on an excerpt of Philip K. Dick’s (1987) “The Minority Report”. Its preparation and development seeks to combine Kolb’s experiential learning theory with a creative methodology in order to motivate and stimulate students while making them learn from their own mistakes. The results of the activity and a subsequent debate showed that most students skipped or at least did not complete some of the fundamental translation stages properly for different reasons. Consequently, the final part of the paper suggests a series of guidelines and strategies aimed at solving the main problems arisen from this activity.
