Abstract

Accepting ignorance is a prerequisite for learning. In schools—the very places meant for acquiring knowledge—those who already know are celebrated, while those who do not are marginalized. Educational institutions are filled with rituals that exalt those who excel, those who rise above the rest, often at the expense of those who struggle. Yet schools are supposed to be places for learning, not for glorifying those who already possess knowledge.
