Abstract

The present article defends that transnational studies are the most appropriate methodological framework to study the presence of the road movie (an American genre born during the sixties) worldwide through at least three ways: the binary of national/transnational, the transnational as a regional phenomenon and the diasporic, exilic and postcolonial cinemas. Finally, the author tackles the Spanish road movie and the main academic literature on this topic.
