Abstract

Many tanks built in Spain between the 15 th and 16 th centuries show similarities with the spanish-muslim cisterns. The old tank in Melilla, dating from 1549, shows stonework building techniques from the 16 th century. Its later restauration allows us to appreciate the high skill developed by the military engineers in the 18 th century when building brick vaults.
