Abstract

The chapel built at XVII century for Sacrarium into parish church
dedicated to Virgin Mary of Soterraño in Aguilar de la Frontera (Cordova, Spain), appears as an fundamental architectonic example for knowledge of morphological and conceptual evolution in Eucharistic oratories appointing to their ideological importance from Counter Reformation movement. This article studies several aspects referred to construction, authorship, models and consequences of the Sacrarium Chapel in Aguilar into Cordovan Architecture of XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries. Its symbolical meanings and planimetrical parallelisms, according to its character as suggestive recreation of mythical Temple of Salomon, shaped in Christian Humanism terms, are also studied here.
